After a successful opening in 1883, Volk’s quickly sought to extend his Railway and the Halfway Station was opened just a year later. It was originally known as ‘Paston Place Station’, or ‘Peter Pan’s Playground Station’. Magnus Volk established his office here and it became the location of great activity, with the car shed and workshop sited here too. This activity continues at the site, and it is now possible to visit the current Workshop next to Halfway Station. If you look over the road, you can still see Magnus Volk’s office, which is used by the Volk’s Railway team today.
